Manage watershed restoration program for the Tribe, including oversight of salmon recovery planning, restoration project planning and implementation, and salmonid habitat monitoring. Accomplishments include: (1) lead authorship of WRIA 1 Salmonid Recovery Plan, WRIA 1 Habitat Restoration Strategy, Salmon Recovery Funding Board project ranking guidance, and associated technical planning documents; (2) design and implementation of watershed assessment and reach restoration planning projects; (3) development and implementation of methods to monitor salmon habitat status and trends and log jam project effectiveness; (4) participation in, substantial contribution to, and/or leadership of local technical committees, including WRIA 1 Salmon Recovery Staff Team, WRIA 1 Combined Review Team (for SRFB habitat projects), WRIA 1 Salmonid Habitat Monitoring Committee, WRIA 1 Instream Flow/Fish Habitat Technical Team, and Technical Advisory Committees for Whatcom County Critical Areas Ordinance and Bellingham Shoreline Master Program updates; (5) participation in regional salmon recovery efforts, including Puget Sound Partnership Watershed Lead meetings; (6) presentation of scientific information to technical, policy, and citizen forums; (7) data management, analysis, and reporting; and (8) grant proposal writing and grants and contract administration and management.

Designed and implemented study of juvenile salmonid utilization of off-channel habitats of the Queets River, Olympic Peninsula culminating in M.S. thesis: "Contrasting Discharge Patterns, Juvenile Salmonid Use, and Fish Community Structure in Off-Channel Floodplain Habitats, Queets River, Washington, during Summer Low-Flow."

Provided equipment, materials and general logistical support for scientific research at Palmer Station, Antarctica. Duties also included inventory maintenance and hazardous waste treatment and disposal.

Antarctica, And Santa Barbara, Ca.

Conducted laboratory work at UCSB and at Palmer Station, Antarctica, for the Palmer Long Term Ecological Research program, including protein and lipid analyses and feeding experiments on Antarctic krill. Participated in three research cruises in the Southern Ocean, Antarctica, which involved collection of larval krill under sea ice using SCUBA, deployment of plankton and midwater trawl nets, and sorting zooplankton samples.

Assisted in research on the feeding ecology of the kelp bass (Paralabrax clathratus), including behavioral observations, underwater surveys, and gut content and plankton sample analyses.
