Outcomes Analyst & Research Manager, Neurosciences Institute, Intermountain Medical CenterMarch 2015 to PresentAs an integral member of the Neurosciences institute at Intermountain Medical Center I manage all the neurosciences clinical research studies that the hospital is involved with. Additionally, I support the physicians and nurse managers in pulling and analyzing data to improve clinical care for patients with neurologic illness at the hospital.-I helped successfully collect and organize stroke data from multiple sources and presented it to The Joint Commission to obtain Comprehensive Stroke Center status.-I manage the following clinical research studies at Intermountain Medical Center; MISTIE III, ATACH II, MR WITNESS, DEFUSE 3, MaRISS. This includes obtaining informed consent, monitoring subjects and performing follow up visits.-Designed and implemented a database to collect stroke information from multiple sources and report on stroke outcomes.-Designed, customized and implemented neuroscience workflow process and forms for use in new electronic medical record for use in the entire corporation, which encompasses 108 clinics and 23 hospitals -Gathers and responds to clinician feedback regarding workflow and electronic decision support tools.

I am working with physicians to develop work flows around ordering in a CPOE environment. I support the following clinical areas.Research: I am helping to develop research protocols into electronic ordering to ensure adherence to required elements of the research protocol guidelines. This also will help feed into billing the correct items to the study as well as support ensure proper follow up and monitoring of the patient while enrolled in the research study.Women and Newborns: I am helping to develop electronic order sets and protocols for Obstetrics, Gynecology, Neonatology and Pediatrics (for newborns). An element of the electronic order sets and protocols helps ensure that necessary items are ordered and tracked in regards to Neonatal sepsis, hyperbilirubinemia, hypoglycemia, etc.Oncology: We are currently focused on creating and standardizing ordering practice for chemotherapy infusion regimens among oncology providers who send their patient's to Intermountain Healthcare for infusion services. Neuroscience: Developing standardized care for stroke among 23 hospitals within the organization and ensuring adherence to American Heart Association guidelines for stroke care.Primary Care/Ambulatory: Ensuring that ordering in the outpatient setting matched ordering in the inpatient setting. Additionally, developing electronic forms to help coordinate the transition of care between acute care and outpatient care.

Supervise and oversee the operations of the Acute Internal Medicine A unit, a 23 bed Medicine/Telemetry unit.Special projects:Lead Charge Nurse Pilot: We transitioned from a system of charge nurses who we pulled from a pool of senior nurses on the floor that received a differential to charge to a permanent position of charge nurse. Job expectations and training requirements were more clearly defined and charge nurse shifts were scheduled well in advance as opposed to selected on a weekly basis. Interdisciplinary Rounding: Nurses and Hospitalists were encouraged to round with each other to increase interdisciplinary communication and increase patient perception of quality care received and the perception that members of the health care team worked well together. This required coordination between the physicians and nurses as well as monitoring to ensure adherence to the new process. ED to Inpatient Admission Time: Utilizing a new nurse to nurse reporting process, the average wait times for patients admitted to AIM-A from the Emergency Department was reduced by 45 minutes.
