My masters thesis is titled "The hydrochemical signatures of (in) congruent weathering in Iceland" (journal submission - in progress). This body of work employs inverse mixing models to interrogate the source of solutes measured in Icelandic river water (i.e., dissolution of silicate minerals, secondary clay formation, calcite dissolution and hydrothermal fluid mixing). This research is important because it evaluates Iceland as a silicate weathering (the chemical breakdown of silicate rocks and minerals) hotspot which has implications on carbon sequestration processes over geologic time (>1 mya).
