Call me crazy but I love problems that are so complicated they make you want to pull your hair out. I attribute this to my tendency to take time to really understand a problem before trying to solve it. Skills I have learned in the areas of business strategy, organizational behavior, design for manufacturing, and project management allow me to find effective solutions. This interest means that in my decade-long career I have… • Designed, led the development effort on, and implemented for production OEM and consumer precision fluid handling devices following ISO 9001 quality system procedures. • Reimagined and successfully implemented changes to legacy production processes to improve product quality, reduce cost, and improve operator ease of use including one example that reduced the process time to ¼ of the original. • Managed the on-shoring of production for an automated pipettor simultaneously with guiding a team of engineers in implementing critical design improvements under OEM contracts with $15M+ yearly revenue implications.But for me, engineering is more than a profession; it’s a lifestyle, and being an engineer informs my everyday decisions.And so this means that in my personal life… • I’ve used kinematics and Google Earth data to show there was a strong likelihood an old roommate likely was speeding through a school zone. • I’ve helped a friend design and build a steering arm for a Hobie Cat sailboat from common materials. • I’ve sourced a practical, replacement drag brake for a vintage tandem bicycle now that existing market options have long been discontinued.This lifestyle appeals to me because, fundamentally, I love helping people find practical solutions to complicated problems. Finding out the relationship between inputs and outputs excites me. Figuring out how to apply given resources to get the output we’re looking for is my specialty. When I get to “zoom out” and make sure the detailed output we are targeting is going to meaningfully address the problem to be solved it has been a good day.I am currently seeking a position managing technical development projects and teams or acting as a key engineering contributor to such projects. My ideal role will be carried out remotely or is based out of Reno, Nevada.
