Aviation Meteorologist based at Dubai International Airport providing meteorological support to primary stakeholders of Dubai Approach, Dubai International and Al Maktoum International ATC and Airport Operations and Emirates and FlyDubai airlines.Responsibilities include the issuance of TAFs, Aviation/Aerodrome Warnings and Take Off Data for Dubai International, Al Maktoum International, Sharjah International and Ras al Khameih International Airports. Further bespoke products are routinely issued for the local Dubai Airports customers as well as contributing towards daily scheduled and ad-hoc conference calls. A constant weather-watch is provided across both the local FIR and the wider Middle East region with regular updates on weather developments (particularly with regard to thunderstorm development and duration, fog formation and clearance and surface/low level wind changes) given to the local ATC, Approach and airlines as required to ensure smooth operations at one of the world's busiest international airports.Further shift responsibilities involve the management of a small team supporting the duty meteorologist and the maintenance of operations outside of standard office hours.Other duties have included the development of a local climate/instrument sensor database. Through self learning of the Python programming language I have produced scripts to regularly error check incoming csv. data files and then inject clean data into appropriate SQL database tables. With addtional scripts these data are analysed for monthly reports with results published in Excel format and further data are released in XML format for injection into local forecasting software to provide statistical assistance towards the forecasting process. Currently I am also working on improving the current data input software used by meteorological observers by providing a VBA supported interface with numerous entry error checks to significantly improve the quality of local climate data
