Oct 2021–Jan 2023: - Asked to be tech lead of brand new enterprise project within Google’s internal incubator, Area 120.- Created the project’s high-level designs and technical plans, led the six-person engineering team to rapidly build and launch app internally and then to external companies. Coached the team through phases of the project from scrappy prototype to productionized app and backend.- Impressively quick and quality execution resulted in two successful renewals, an early acquisition offer, and extra resource and personnel allocation.- Tapped to be the stand-in when the project's founder went on leave in Nov 2022 and led the whole project: making product decisions, coordinating cross-functional efforts, prioritizing features, and planning user research and go-to-market efforts.- Unfortunately, all of the Area120 incubator was shutdown with the Google layoffs.See http://antologi.area120.com for features and visuals.2017 – Nov 2021:Software engineer within Jigsaw, see below.2015–2016:- Created a “Local Favorites” recommendation algorithm for users in a new location to highlight local taste and talent, resulting in higher user retention and playback for new users.- Worked with the design team to address the top Android app UI bugs, as well as fixed many accessibility and right-to-left language issues to bring the app up to Google standards.

- On a team of a three to five engineers who created Trainer, a VR training tool for law enforcement tosimulate emotional and potentially violent interactions with virtual characters to practice de-escalation.- Designed, led, and largely implemented the C++ codebase that drives the behavior of the virtualcharacter based on user speech, actions, interactions, tone of voice, word choice, and more.- Collaborated with user researchers, designers, subject matter experts to test with real users anddrove the efforts to improve the usability, realism, and pedagogical value of the project, resultingin significantly higher measures of user value and realism.- Designed and implemented many of the infrastructure pieces of the codebase such as a resilient OAuthlogin, feature flag system, DLL interfaces, and integrating open source dependencies.- Mentored and supervised new team members to help them become highly productive quickly.- Founded and ran a much lauded Jigsaw-wide new hire mentorship program.Jigsaw is partnering with University of Maryland, Morehouse College, Georgetown University Law School, and the University of Cincinnati to continue and expand on the project and research.

Audio Recognition Team: - Created, maintained, refactored, and supported cloud services for audio fingerprinting, that supported successful integrations to identify songs in the user's environment, songs in audio files, and live television programs.- Prototyped an always-on, on-device music recognition service in Node.js which was sufficiently compelling that Windows Phone decided to adopt the underlying framework.Hololens Research and Development Team:- Implemented the embedded fixed-point signal processing pipeline for the four HoloLens microphones (beamforming, echo cancellation, noise suppression) with a very limited compute budget to provide crystal clear audio to the speech recognition engine and communication apps. - Optimized the pipeline using a distributed compute cluster to select the best results from hundreds of thousands of parameter sets.

- Developed several components of the software in C++ including music information retrieval algorithms, manipulation of file and music formats, and the integration of various components of the program.- Instrumental in product strategy and direction with the identification of target users and designing appropriate feature set and interfaces.

- Designed and programmed software for the analysis and visualization of musical performance to allow student self-assessment, resulting in easier understanding and increased learning. - Conceived, executed, and published usability study on efficacy of visual feedback for musicians presented at Visualization and Data Analysis (VDA) conference in January 2012.

- Interviewed and observed community members to create a profile of health problems afflicting the area, with the goal of creating an action plan.- Worked with community leaders to create and carry out a health education campaign effectively changing knowledge and attitudes of local youth about nutrition, dental health, smoking, and more.

- Provided the test and analysis techniques for many research investigations using a variety of skills: technical drawing, electronics design and fabrication, software, and algorithms.- Co-authored eleven articles in peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the orthopaedic surgery knowledge base.
