Downstream process development engineer in biopharm R&D. Responsible for process development, process validation, virus clearance validation, and technology transfer for molecules in Phase 1 through Phase 3 and launch. Expertise in harvest and filtration including depth and membrane filtration, continuous centrifugation, virus filtration, tangential flow filtration, and drug substance/drug product filtration. Equipment experience with Alfa Laval, Westphalia, and Carr centrifuges, AKTA skid, Avant, and Crossflow, Pendotech and Filtertec filter screening systems, particle sizing techniques including Mastersizer and Lasentech. Supported process development and validation for three Phase 3 molecules. Primarily responsible for technology transfer for one of these Phase 3 molecules into 3 separate facilities over its early phase lifetime. Support for several early phase molecules. Matrix team downstream representative for one of these molecules in early phase. Harvest and primary clarification experience with several cell lines including Cho, yeast, and e. Coli. Current role also includes Labware LIMS administrator for sample submission and tracking and design and implementation of a new ELN system. All of this work and support in downstream process development has yielded me several awards including three recognition awards, and excellence in science award, and independent research and funding award through GSK. Some projects that I am currently working on and very excited about are single pass concentration, ATF reactor optimization and downstream implications collaboration with upstream, second generation mAb platform formulation development collaboration with process sciences, flocculation screening for direct filtration and with centrifugation.

Validation Engineer contracting at GlaxoSmithKline, Upper Merion Biopharm R&D. Major projects involve installation and operational qualification of laboratory instruments, process equipment, and facilities monitoring systems, validation reviews of GMP equipment, creation and maintenance of general validation lifecycle documentation, support for instrument change control and quality incident investigations.

As a non-biology based student, iGEM has helped me learn some of the many biological applications available to engineers while also gaining experience in biological lab techniques.

Learned to be a fair and effective leader by organizing job sites and finishing jobs on time. Started as a sales and nursery maintenance employee to breaking off and starting a patio and wall building company. Worked full time for over two years and part time during high school and college. Helped develop my work ethics, leadership style, and business understanding. This job also left me with a passion for the outdoors and landscaping.
