I am an Engineer with an MBA and 10 years experience as an Energy Manager, identifying and implementing energy conservation projects that save money and reduce GHG emissions. My speciality is developing a GHG management plan to reduce an organizations carbon footprint in a cost-effective program, such as a five year program that reduced GHG emissions by 25% while saving over one million dollars. I have also created an employee engagement program that raised awareness of energy conservation, identified staff behavioural change opportunities to conserve energy, developed and delivered campaigns to instill behavioural change and measured results, achieving a 9% reduction in electricity use due solely to staff behavioural change. My sustainability commitment extends to my personal life and I have specialized expertise in renewable energy and sustainable homes. I built my own home that incorporates solar photovoltaic electricity, passive solar heating, a solar hot water system and energy-efficient LED lighting. My home also utilizes local and recycled materials and was built with net zero-waste during the construction process. Domestic water is collected from a rainwater collection system connected to the roof and I use a low-flush composting toilet to minimize water use and recycle waste into usable compost. I have experience with providing consulting services, training and education in the design and construction of energy-efficient, healthy and environmentally-friendly homes.
