Valiant Resources is a private coal exploration and development company that was established to develop its principal asset, the Hutton Coking Coal Project, across its tenements that cover 1,469 sq km in the southern area of the Bowen Basin in Queensland, Australia.The Hutton Coking Coal Project is one of the largest undeveloped coking coal assets in the world.

A high value-add, user-friendly, productivity enhancement tool focussed on enabling full and efficient utilisation of data to drive business value through Predictive Analytics and Business Intelligence.

Led the Upstream (Exploration and Production) division of the Gladstone Liquefied Natural Gas (GLNG) Project – a Coal Seam Gas (CSG) to LNG business comprising US$18.5bn capital project - (Upstream; US$9bn, 980 direct employees and 2,500 contractors). Operator on behalf of three of the world’s largest LNG companies: Total; Petronas; and Kogas. Accountable for reserves, planning, construction, initial and ongoing development and operations of the fields and infrastructure delivering gas supply for two LNG trains. Direct reports across development, operations, drilling and completions, commercial, business services, human resources, legal, external affairs, safety and environment. ACHIEVEMENTS:Delivered Project (US$18.5bn) on schedule and under budget within a challenging business environment. Timing: Final Investment Decision (FID) taken in January 2011 for first cargo delivery in 2H 2015.Assumed leadership of the GLNG Project 18 months after FID. Transformed a mega-project to achieve planned start-up schedule within budget. Simultaneously built the organisational capability and culture necessary for the safe, reliable, efficient, long-term supply of gas. Achieved seamless start-up with first cargo delivered in October 2015. Fields performing above FID forecasts and facilities reliably delivering above nameplate capacity.Drove continuous improvement of key safety, development cost and production metrics. 300% improvement in major safety metrics, 40% reduction in development costs, best-in-class operating costs and reliability. Organisation size reduced by over one-third.Initiated and delivered a comprehensive business review to align operating capabilities, management practices, governance, organisation structure and culture with business value drivers.Transitioned organisation from a construction mega-project to an operating business by implementing a clear, multi-year business-readiness plan and leading the organisation through the change.

Accountable for global Exploration portfolio, company-wide Drilling and Completions activities and functional accountability for Reserves, Subsurface assurance, staff and expert services. Annual Budget $400m. 350 employees. Member of Executive Team shaping company strategy. Provided subsurface expertise and assurance to allow confident Board decision-making.ACHIEVEMENTS:Delivered a successful track record of discoveries, resource additions and establishment of a well-developed pipeline of opportunities. >300 million barrels of oil equivalent of Contingent Resources added over 4 years at a finding cost of ~$4/barrel of oil (>120% Reserve Replacement Ratio).Formulated and implemented company-wide Exploration growth strategy - average annual budget of ~A$400m. Accountable for drilling and completions operations – 10 to 16 rigs and workover units onshore and offshore within Australia and Asia. Refreshed leadership team and delivered well programs with excellent safety, cost and efficiency outcomes.Developed and led a high-performing team with clear metrics, gated screening process and effective quality tools - high levels of staff engagement recorded on bi-annual culture survey.Introduced comprehensive Reserve and Resource management systems.Drove significant enhancements in corporate Reserves Management System and annual audit process; e.g. development and implementation of “Unconventional Reserves Management System” (to classify and quantify unconventional reserves and resources according to global standards and ASX listing requirements).Provided centralised subsurface expertise, assurance and services, enhanced through strong collaborative relationships with Business Unit Leaders.Successfully established, implemented and managed the training, development and assignment of 250 subsurface professional staff including development and application of Technical Ladders and Competency Frameworks for all technical staff.

Accountable for global New Ventures, Exploration and Appraisal activities. Led all aspects of subsurface operations, expertise, Reserves, development planning and assurance. Member of Executive team shaping company strategy.

Accountable for developing an Exploration-led growth strategy and capturing a portfolio of new exploration opportunities to enable significant Exploration-led growth for Santos outside their traditional areas of operation - particularly focussed on building an Asia portfolio.

Part of a highly successful exploration and development team that oversaw a complete re-engineering of the business model from “harvest” to “significant growth” via innovation, collaboration, unit-cost reduction and risk management. Dramatic business turnaround achieved. Resultant major discoveries under development in the Kutei Basin, Indonesia. Conceived of, developed and successfully implemented innovative business, operational and risk management practices resulting in dramatic business turnaround.
