Same Day/Short Stay Unit:-Help staff the Anesthesia Pre-op clinic. Interview, assess and review current health status and medications of patients prior to the patient going in for surgery. I do this through clinic appointments or over the phone interaction.-Interview patients preoperatively prior to the OR by verifying information in the chart and starting IVs, giving medications and updating patients on their status as they wait to go to the OR.-Responsible for Phase 2 recovery of patients after having outpatient procedures either through the main OR, Interventional Radiology and Ultrasound departments.-Assess patient condition and implement nursing interventions to aid patients in their postop recovery.-Educate patients in their care after leaving the hospital by reviewing instructions provided by the Doctor and answering questions.Ortho Trauma & Surgical Specialty Unit:-Identify, assess and diagnose patient problems through assessment and interaction. Evaluates actual or potential patient health problems.-Evaluate patient’s response to interventions and changes plan of care as needed to achieve health care goals.-Utilize knowledge of medications, procedures, infection control, and safety precaution. Initiates appropriate interventions in crisis situations.-Maintains a safe and therapeutic patient care environment.
