Specifically, I investigated using organic chemistry and functionalization to improve the processability of poly(thiophene) thin films by synthesizing photo-responsive poly(cation)s comprising poly(thiophene) for use in poly(electrolyte) multilayer (PEM) films assembled using layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly. The aim of this project was to create an organic semiconductor material that is patternable using photochemical processes such as photolithography and amenable to solution-based processing.
