Winslow A. “Trey” Ward, III is CEO of Direct Connect Development Co, LLC, a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line developer formed to develop projects along railroad corridors. Trey is also founder of SOO Green HVDC Link, a 350-mile, 2,100MW HVDC transmission line that will efficiently deliver high quality wind energy from Iowa to Illinois. The project is an innovative underground solution that duplicates the successful fiber optic rail co-location model that was used to build out dark fiber networks.A business attorney by background, Trey has devoted his efforts since 2010 to, in partnership with Canadian Pacific Railway, advance co-locating high-voltage transmission lines in rail corridors to achieve both superior environmental siting and a certain path to take remote renewable resources to urban load centers.Trey graduated from the University of Tennessee (BS, College Scholars) and UT College of Law (JD with honors). Trey also attended International Christian University in Tokyo and Swansea University in Wales.
