As a Field Clinician at ROMTech, my duties were split between patient care, business development, and warehouse and inventory management. In my role, I was tasked with delivering rehab devices (similar to an exercise bike) to both pre-op and post-op patients who needed a Total Knee Replacement (TKR) or similar operation. I worked closely with these patients to acquaint them with our device, the Portable Connect, and remained available 24/7 for customer service through their use period. I would also spend part of my time meeting with physicians, executives, and potential investors to run product demonstrations and do Q&A, sometimes in tandem with a sales representative. The third general area of responsibility was keeping accurate and timely inventories of all warehouse materials, and managing safety compliance.

As a Peer Review Coordinator at MCMC, LLC my goal was to facilitate a relationship between clients, physicians, and patients in the Workers Compensation arena. As the conduit between the interfacing parties, I had to juggle dozens of cases daily, each with their own specialties or time constraints. The cases would begin with processing medical records (sometimes the files were tens of thousands of pages long), then move to physician assignment based on specialty, request, or personal discretion. Then I would have to ensure the physician returned the report in a timely fashion, on budget, and to specifications. On the backend I managed billing for Peer Reviews, DDEs, and PDDEs, assisting with collections on an as-needed basis.A substantial portion of my responsibilities toward the end of my employment was creating technically written guides for an array of processes regarding the numerous software programs and web applications we would use on a daily basis, and then disseminating the info and training coworkers as necessary.

My position as a Medical Billing Specialist demanded I be skilled in utilizing ICD 10 & CPT codes to accurately build charges for CMS 1500 billing. With my knowledge of HIPAA compliance and electronic clearinghouse proficiency, I ensured that all submissions were secure and met industry standards. Additionally, my expertise in EDI submission allowed for a smooth and efficient billing process. I was highly customer service oriented, providing excellent service to both clients and patients. I was also adept at handling collections and posting payments, as well as managing denials to ensure proper account balancing. My performance in healthcare billing was characterized by precision and professionalism, and I consistently met all of my responsibilities with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
This was a straightforward position: be great with customers, move fast, lift heavy boxes, and arrange produce in an alluring manner. Our produce department was the largest and most varied within 100 miles. At Fresh, the emphasis was on freshness and quality, knowledgeability, and speed.Trucks would come in at 4am several times a week, and we would unload, break down, and arrange in myriad ways depending on what was in-season, selling well, or unique to our store.Sometimes there would be special events, like Hatch Chile roasting, and I would coordinate the event outside, handling orders, bagging, and roaster setup/breakdown. Or we would coordinate with the seafood department to create bundled sale opportunities for the Super Bowl, crawfish season, etc. There was an element of artistry to the job, if you had the boldness to apply it. Creating funny signs, weird watermelon carvings, or triumphant displays of exotic Buddha hands and cherimoyas was always fun and engaging with guests. It was the worst paying job I ever had, and the hardest I've ever worked. I learned a lot.

I worked here while going to college. I started as a regular team member, but soon my work ethic and customer service aptitude distinguished me to the point where I was appointed as a "trainer". My rules were to be friendly, anticipate, and take pride. Explaining the ins-and-outs of working at Jamba would be overly tedious, so let it suffice to say that we made a ton of smoothies and small food items for people that were typically in a huge hurry, often with children in tow. We were a very busy and successful store located off of I-35 in Austin, well situated between various retail shops and a hospital. To accommodate the waves of humanity ebbing and flowing from the store with efficiency, you had to stay busy and constantly 2 steps ahead on prep-work, dishes, janitorial work, and a slew of other minor tasks that, when managed appropriately, creates a rave-review store. Our mantra was: Rush. Rebuild. Repeat. The other part of the job, the part that DMs constantly spoke about, was upselling and pushing various specials. I've always had a lifelong creative itch that I sometimes have to scratch, and my store manager often let me go wild with ideas to market our unique offerings. Examples of some are as follows: cobbling together a Tim Burton-esque sculpture of oranges, creating hand drawn scenes on our chalkboard, or dressing up in a banana suit and approaching strangers to spread the good word of Jamba.

Leo's Repair Service was owned by a neighbor of mine in my first apartment complex, and I started working for him as his sole employee shortly before I began college. Once college began, the owner let me keep working part-time when our schedules aligned. It was a very informal position - there was no paperwork, no dress code, and no time clock. There was, however, an innumerable amount of fences repaired, solar attic fans installed, toilets replaced, rooms painted, decks stripped of paint. The list could go on. I would sometimes join a job to find out that my boss didn't actually know how to do the thing we were supposed to do, and we would have to puzzle it out together, like the time we had to rebuild a section of stone wall. Another fun story is when I showed up and he had an 80lb. jackhammer, and I had to figure out how to use it all day.The work was extremely labor intensive, sometimes 12+ hours outside, multiple days in a row. It required an aptitude for mechanical concepts, and an ability to apply current knowledge in new and creative ways.
