As the leader of the Engineering/QA team, I was responsible for managing a team of 12 people, with 1 direct report. During this time, I grew the team to 30 engineers and 4 managers. In this role, I was also responsible for operational and security initiatives.Some of my key achievements in this position include:▪Implementing security initiatives such as multi-factor authentication, WAF, and endpoint security▪Building an enhanced monitoring and logging platform to improve visibility into our production workloads▪Growing the team from 12 to 30 engineers▪Helped build new data pipelines for our BI team▪Fraud security initiatives.

As the leader of the DevOps team, I am responsible for optimizing the infrastructure, web services, and client software for our cyber security solutions. Additionally, I oversee the daily operation of our global infrastructure across multiple cloud providers, and negotiate business contracts and vendor agreements to promote cost-effective partnerships for multi-million-dollar projects.Some of my key accomplishments in this role include:▪Facilitating the quick evolution from dedicated solutions to more efficient auto-scaling solutions, saving $1M in expenses and increasing capital for new business ventures▪Optimizing tiered storage by utilizing reserved instances for consolidating Amazon's infrastructure, which reduced operational costs and improved margins from 5% to 8%▪Designing a strategic plan for the divestiture of Jungle Disk as a separate company from Rackspace▪Building a data warehouse using Google Big Table and Data Studio to deliver business and service metrics to key stakeholders▪Developing operational dashboards that display application and infrastructure health, resulting in increased awareness of platform health▪Strengthening the automated billing collections process, resulting in revenue generation that replaced historical losses▪Identifying access patterns using Amazon S3 analytics and recognizing the opportunity to use different storage tiers across cloud providers, resulting in significant cost savings across storage platforms▪Spearheading a log aggregation service, which led to better infrastructure insight and improved troubleshooting for operations, development, and support services▪Implementing global infrastructure to improve authentication service and decrease low latency authentication for customers.

In this role, I built a DevOps team to help in the rebuild of the company infrastructure and software products.▪ I identified non-redundant infrastructure and software across components in Jungle Disk infrastructure and executed a plan to introduce high availability across systems and services, which achieved 99.999% uptime.▪ I led an effort to rebuild PCI Infrastructure and software to comply with saq d requirement.▪ I collaborated with development and security vendors to remediate PCI deficiency, which allowed the company to continue to process ecommerce transactions.▪ I migrated and architected an entire infrastructure onto 3 cloud providers using load balancing, HA, and custom instance types based on workload to cut infrastructure in half.Cloud Engineer | 2010 - 2012In this role, I collaborated with the product development group to test new products for quality assurance.▪ I created an autoscaling process for cloud servers using powershell scripts to autoscale web application for high traffic environments.▪ I mentored new cloud system admins on support process and technical skills, while managing team escalations for large and complex customers with critical needs.▪ I designed and deployed large scale cloud deployments for customer national marketing television events. ▪ I also wrote powershell installer scripts for a cloud backup agent that helped with deployment of all windows agents.Lead Technical Engineer | 2004 - 2010In this role, I supported the development of images for dedicated servers of business segments. I also managed escalations to Microsoft for their business segment, as well as provided Security and Database Subject Matter Expertise (SME).▪ I served as a liaison to Microsoft Professional Services and resolved escalations for highly complex environments and customers.▪ I successfully managed Rackspace’s largest customer for over 2 years.▪ I also coached and mentored newly hired Engineers and developed tests to assess their progress.

In this role, I managed a newly formed IT Department and provided technical guidance to Executive and Senior Leadership. I was the administrator for the SQL Server, email clients, workstations, Windows servers and Novell Netware servers, and related systems. I provided support and resolved technical issues for 47 stores and three regional offices.▪ I evaluated, purchased, and deployed new hardware and software solutions that reduced administrative overhead and increased bsiness efficiencies, as well as upgraded the company’s infrastructure.▪ I developed web-based scheduling applications for 50 retail locations which allowed customers to schedule appointments using scripting languages DTS, SQL, ASP, ADO, CFM, Visual Basic, and VB.net.

In this role, I collaborated with Senior Management to develop, implement, and validate programs to minimize risk and optimize financial returns.▪ I designed, developed, and maintained Oracle Database schema, ensuring compliance with technical standards.▪ I developed Cognos reports and automated tasks to facilitate risk analysis for users.▪ I assisted in performing interviews to fill technical positions within organization and delivered training on new technologies that increased business productivity.

In this role, I maintained and administered AS400 databases, developed PL/SQL queries to retrieve data from the data warehouse.▪ I reduced the cost of business practices by automating data analysis processes.▪ I supported Recovery Operations and critical processes to ensure business continuity protocols were maintained. ▪ I authored technical documentation, including processes and procedures to ensure compliance requirements were met.
