As the Director of Technology for BCISD, I took over an environment that was in need of some major updating and a poorly skilled staff of 6. Restructured the department, relocated the tech office, setup staff online training, restructured the budget, installed outdated phone system with Cisco VoIP, total core refresh (Cisco Meraki), implemented district wide WiFi (Meraki), migrated security systems to IP cameras and solution (Salient Server and Axis), connected with new vendors (DataVox, Splendid), led training sessions for faculty and staff, attended National conferences (COSN, ISTE).

As the Director of Technology for Winona ISD, I took over an environment that was in need of some major updating. They had many issues due to poor network design, planning, and leadership. There wasn’t any documentation on systems and processes, and staff had been inadequately trained. My first goal was to revamp the infrastructure so that it was stable and functional. I also wanted to ensure that the technology staff was operating efficiently while providing excellent customer support. Now that those goals have been accomplished, the focus is on where the faculty and students stand technologically and how to improve how they use technology in the classroom and as a learning tool to enhance their educational experience. Key Results: Completed a $500,000 core refresh and wireless solution install for entire district (Meraki/Cisco).  Reclaimed over $60,000 in lost E-Rate funds from previous years. Provided 8 new IPad carts containing 208 Ipads for district wide use. Recycled over 100 CRT systems and obsolete equipment and brought in over $3000 in tech funds. Installed DeepFreeze, ThirtySeven4, and NetSupport for technology desktop support solution district-wide.  Directed technology team through initiatives, projects, and weekly meetings. Gathered and assessed needs from faculty and staff; created custom solutions to resolve issues (e.g., system slowdowns, hardware issues and setup); and developed functional specifications for tech group. Currently migrating to Office365. Encouraged growth through various training and collaborative sessions as well as district surveys.

As the Director of Technology, I am responsible for all technology decisions for the school. I work with faculty, staff, and the students to make sure that the technology program is the best that it can be. Since arriving, I have implemented ActivBoards in all of the classrooms. I have upgraded all of the servers, and systems. We now have a 1:1 laptop program in the 3rd - 5th grades. We have virtual computer labs in all of the 2nd grade classrooms. The teachers have laptops, and the library utilized Nooks as well. We also use SmartSync for classroom management and we have ActivVotes, and ActivEngage software on our student laptops. We provide our teachers with several training opportunities each year including a half day training session for each grade level in January. In addition, I began the school Broadcast Program - installing video recording and editing equipment as well as lighting for the students in the 5th grade to create 8 shows every week for broadcast to the entire student body.

I handled all aspects of technology for small businesses and assisted larger companies and law firms with their technology projects and implementations.
