As an editorial director, I identify what can break through and shape campaigns and content programs that drive cultural conversation, like bringing Chipotle to the metaverse with a Roblox activation. As an editor and writer for over 10 years, I have overseen editorial direction across print and digital at The Face, Interview, Dazed and Fantastic Man. Us Editor
When iconic British magazine The Face relaunched in 2019, I was brought on as US Editor to spearhead a team Stateside. The Face returned with four covers, Harry Styles, Tyler, the Creator, Dua Lipa and Rosalía.To coincide with the relaunch, I helped produce and curate The Face Apartment, a physical hangout on Bleecker Street, where visitors could immerse themselves in a series of daily events, fashion shows and exhibitions for an entire month, which reflected the agenda of this new era. While at The Face, I pioneered new ways of audiovisual storytelling, using AMP stories, timelines and native audio incorporated into written features. Noticing the rapid rise of TikTok in 2019, I collaborated with the app’s most popular creators, like Charli and Dixie D’Amelio and Noen Eubanks, on standout features. Together with the Instagram account @velvetcoke, I wrote a weekly AMP column called Hollyweird which was shared to her one million followers. These efforts combined were tangible successes for The Face — I was consistently responsible for a majority of traffic to theface.com and drove brand awareness through social media.I have written three cover stories for The Face's quarterly print issues (Harry Styles, Lily-Rose Depp and TikTok star Noen Eubanks) and one digital cover story (Beanie Feldstein). I've also interviewed a host of celebrities including Elton John, Stevie Nicks, Kim Gordon, Juliette Lewis, Jeff Goldblum, James Mangold, Dylan Sprouse, Alessandro Michele, Nicholas Galitzine, Barbie Ferreira, and the most famous paparazzo in the world, Ron Galella.
Freelance Copywriter
I have helped brands like YSL Beauty, TikTok, Chairish, Hyundai Europe, Target and Only & Sons tell their stories through video campaigns, social media, and standout editorial projects. In 2017, I was editor of the Dazed 100 in collaboration with Calvin Klein, leading a months-long branded project that resulted in a needle-pushing guide introducing 100 next generation creatives shaping youth culture.
Freelance Writer
I pitched and wrote various profile pieces, long-form essays, and short-form content. Clients include The New York Times, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, Vogue, Teen Vogue, GQ, British GQ Style, Esquire, InStyle, Elle India, The Guardian, The Atlantic, The Independent, Curbed, V, W, Interview, i-D, Another, Vice, BuzzFeed, iHeartRadio Canada and The Globe and Mail.
Editor
As editor for Gary Vaynerchuk's upstart ONE37pm, I commissioned and wrote about style and culture through the lens of entrepreneurship. I oversaw junior staff and interns as well as helped to shape the general direction of the site's content. I consulted on RFPs for clients like Gillette, Calvin Klein and Warner Bros. and helped shepherd commercial projects to completion.
Senior Online Editor
In August 2017, I was brought on to help relaunch Interview‘s website with a new digital team. I introduced a fresh stable of franchises and provided a different method of storytelling that aimed to reach a younger audience with more poppy, fun features. Some of my favorite projects included having Whoopi Goldberg review New York Fashion Week as a front row correspondent, getting Sean Penn to eulogize his dear friend Harry Dean Stanton, and working with the popular Instagram @velvetcoke on a celebrity-focused column called Obvious History. In my role as Senior Online Editor, I commissioned and produced countless original photoshoots with top-tier photographers and stylists. I worked closely with emerging talent to update Interview’s aesthetic and discovered a slew of photographers and writers. In discovering these talents, I was able to develop a new curatorial voice for Interview using existing media platforms.Under my direction, traffic to the site increased exponentially. In April 2018, traffic reached an all-time high. During my tenure, we went from 200,000 pageviews per month to over 1 million.
Us Editor
I commissioned a team of editorial contributors for US-focused stories across all verticals for Dazed Digital, including videos and other special projects. With half of our digital audience now based in the US, I helped to establish a presence and expand Dazed’s digital footprint within North America.
Editor
In collaboration with Calvin Klein, I led a short-term, massive multimedia project that introduced readers to the next generation creatives shaping youth culture in 2017. The Dazed 100 is a guide to those trailblazers, and in past has featured names like Kendall Jenner, actress and model Hari Nef, singer Troye Sivan and rapper Fetty Wap.As editor, I helped to curate the list of 100 names whose moment is now. Those names included people like singer Sampha, Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown, fringe rockers HMLTD, and Mexican DJ crew N.A.A.F.I. I liaised with the in-house team as well as with Calvin Klein to ensure that both commercial and editorial goals were met. I commissioned copy and arranged photo shoots for all of the talent involved, as well as feeding in to all of the major deliverables for the project (i.e. social videos, hero films and rollout). The Dazed 100 launched online in April 2017, and shortly after its launch began trending on Twitter in the UK. Within 24 hours, the project received over 50,000 votes. The engagement from influencers and fans created a serious conversation about the talent that went on to effectively shape 2017.
Associate Editor
After a decade in print, I worked in tandem with the editor to overhaul the magazine to be more forward-facing. This was accomplished by introducing issue themes to further streamline content and provide a 360-degree editorial experience. I oversaw the front-of-book features and assisted in refining furniture copy and fact-checking.
Film Editor
I wrote and commissioned 5-8 film features weekly for Dazed Digital, as well as commissioning and editing features for the bimonthly issues. I planned editorial issue themes and content, as well as pioneering “Digital Takeovers” – a commercial editorial package that included a blitz of editorial content in collaboration with a soon-to-be-released film. The takeovers included exclusive, engaging content for films like Under the Skin, Noah, Frank, Men, Women & Children and The Grand Budapest Hotel. I worked closely with partners like Genius, SXSW, Tribeca Film Festival and Oscilloscope Laboratories, creating unique content that cut through the noise.
Editorial Assistant, Staff Writer
As Editorial Assistant and, subsequently, Staff Writer, I was central to the editorial structure of Dazed. I wrote an average of 3-6 articles weekly for Dazed Digital, as well as assisting with commissions and writing for the print issues. I liaised with the marketing team, writing press releases and advertising materials crucial to the company’s marketing efforts. I managed the editorial intern programme, training interns to the highest possible standards and often helping them find their first jobs in the industry.
Digital Marketing Assistant
I assisted in disseminating Dazed’s content by seeding features to relevant media partners, placing them with titles where they would gain the most digital traction and pick-up. I developed a practical seeding network of contacts that were influential in growing Dazed’s audience. I brainstormed marketing strategies to spread the word about editorial projects across Dazed Media, including White Label projects, Dazed, and Another.
Fashion Features Editor
I wrote cover stories and edited fashion features for Danish biannual Fat (Fashion, Art, Type) created by Copenhagen’s LOW Studios. I interviewed Kate Bosworth, James Perse, Stefan Sagmeister, Guinevere Van Seenus and Helena Christensen among others.
Editor
Together with the Creative Director, I independently published and edited Husk’s biannual issues. I built up a team of freelance contributors, commissioned and edited every single editorial feature in the magazine. I was an essential part of Husk’s growth from a bedroom publishing operation out of Germany to being distributed in 13 countries worldwide by Pineapple Media, influencing a niche fashion reader in the process with stories designed to expose culture’s most interesting – but least talked about – figures.
