I was able to gain an on-the-ground understanding of the political process, working with a candidate in the Australian Federal Election as part of my university work placement. I undertook a myriad of tasks on the campaign, including preparing supporter newsletters, arranging candidate events, creating and maintaining a campaign plan, liaising with the Party Office and media on behalf of the candidate and general administrative duties. I also had a public facing role in responding to enquiries and helping to broadcast the party and candidate message to voters.

Working in the bulk electricity market, RMS Energy offers services to on-sellers of bulk electricity and were a former client of mine. I undertook a varied role ranging from providing administrative and accounting services, to restructuring processes and training the staff. I highlighted areas where efficiencies could be implemented to allow for growth without the need for additional staff and implemented changes in consultation with the team to improve and streamline processes.Upon change of ownership of the business, I took responsibility for training the new owner and staff in the systems and processes, and ensured the business maintained its excellent customer service and delivery targets during and after the transition.

I successfully established a small boutique event management company, offering wedding and party planning, corporate events including conferences and team building, and private events. Through this I gained extensive experience in planning and coordination of events, and utilised and refined my business development and sales skills to attract clients and build an extensive database of potential customers.As part of an industry group I developed strong relationships with vendors and enacted a system of mutual recommendations, helping to grow our businesses collectively.

I held various roles throughout my fourteen year career at StrataMax, including Senior Relationship Manager, Training Manager and Operational Support. I established strong relationships with clients at all levels of the business, interacting at networking events, conferences and one-on-one in their office, having responsibility for the top-tier client portfolio. Business development was a key focus as the company delivered new and improved functionality and programs, and I was at the forefront of the sales and marketing of these products to new and existing customers. My oral and written communication skills were constantly advancing as I progressed through the different departments. As the Training Manager I wrote training manuals and material, and presented this material in one-on-one, group and workshop sessions, gaining valuable experience in presenting and leadership.Having developed an extensive knowledge of the system through my years in the operational support and training teams, I was also consistently engaged in the ongoing maintenance and development of the external software programs. With experience in both the programs and the end-user processes, my input was regularly requested and considered to ensure the delivery of appropriate programs and systems for the customer.
