Upscaling of a two-phase flow model including gravity effect in geological heterogeneous media : application to CO₂ sequestration, defended in January 2016. Detailed works:• Study different flow regimes of two-phase CO₂ supercritical - brine mixture in heterogeneous porous media according to the magnitude of the capillary, gravity and viscous forces.• Develop and validate by numerical approach an upscaled model (from the cell scale to the reservoir scale) of the migration of CO₂ plume in a deep heterogeneous reservoir made up of continuous or discontinuous horizontal low-permeability barriers basing on homogenization and gravity current method.• Evaluate the parallel computing performances of the C++ open-source code DuMux (University of Stuttgart) to simulate the injection and migration of CO₂ in three-dimensional heterogeneous media (layered periodic media, fluvial media and reservoir model SPE10).• Develop several codes in Matlab, Python and Fortran for the post-treatment of 3D simulation results and for the resolution of typical cell problem of the homogenization approach.
