-Process requests for insurance coverage of formulary and non-formulary drugs that reject at dispensing pharmacy based on pre-determined plan criteria.-Review all adverse coverage determinations before final decisions are rendered and as required by law work in conjunction with medical directors to render final decisions on coverage determinations. -Receive phone calls from prior authorization pharmacy technicians and/or providers where clinical information is involved.-Consult physicians/ providers with questions and interpretations of clinical guidelines criteria and coverage determinations of clinical guidelines criteria and coverage determinations that have been rendered.-Participate in quality improvement and process enhancement projects as assigned by management.-Consult with prior authorization technicians and/or physician regarding use of medications and advise of appropriate formulary alternatives when requested.-Demonstrate ability to maintain productive working relationships with team members, other internal and external customers, and management team.

★ Efficiently review and verification of all prescription medications, providing exceptional customer service.★ Counsel patients, providing them information about both prescription and non-prescription medications and making recommendations for acute illnesses for non-prescription medications or if further medical treatment is necessary.★ Prepare, compound, preserve, and dispense drugs, medicines, and therapeutic devices upon legal authorization of licensed practitioner.★ Review medications with patients for potential drug-drug interactions and allergic reactions.★ Assure compliance with all federal and state regulations. ★ Serve as a leader for continuous improvement of quality and efficiency of pharmacy. ★ Handle all vaccinations including influenza, pneumonia, and Adacel.★ Provide patient diabetes care by monitoring A1C, cholesterol, and blood pressure then follow up care plan with patient’s provider. ★ Monitor the accuracy of data inputted by technicians to ensure patients received their medication as prescribed at the correct dosages, quantities, and frequency.★ Responsible for accurate inventory management and maintaining a well-stocked pharmacy, ensuring expired and recalled drugs are removed from stock and processed for return and reimbursement.
