Fresh on DeK, the DeKalb County Mobile Market, was created to educate residents living in communities designated as “food deserts” on the importance of healthy living and fresh, in-season produce. We are able to bring education and fresh produce to food deserts around DeKalb County- by doing this we are aiming to create a healthier community in DeKalb! Fresh on DeK is made possible with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, DeKalb County Government, DeKalb County Board of Health and UGA Cooperative Extension. The Fresh on DeK season lasts for 16 weeks from June-September.

As the financial administrator for a small research center (Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access), I managed a budget of approximately $400,000 in state allocation and $3 million+ in sponsored funding (mostly from DHHS ACL) with no cost overrun and on time closeout. I administered sponsored projects pre and post award including budget preparation andsupport, routing, proposal submission, regular review of finances and cost sharing,sub award initiation, annual reports, budget amendments, facilitation of sub awardinvoices, no-cost extensions, carryover requests, and closeout.Center administration included salary planning and distribution of approximately 15 researchers and staff, processing employee travel, payment of reimbursements and invoices, procurement card reconciliations, and HR support such as hiring of students and processing of visiting international scholars.

Administered the U.S. Senate Productivity and Maryland Quality Awards, a recognition program for Maryland organizations that was sponsored by then-Senators Paul Sarbanes and Barbara Mikulski. This program was based on the Baldrige Performance Excellence framework dedicated to helping organizations improve.
