I have 10+ years of experience in the Neuroscience field. My research expertise centers around neurological disorders, with an emphasis on epilepsy and associated neuropsychiatric disorders. I have extensive experience working with rodent models, conducting in vivo EEG and in vitro electrophysiology, running various behavioral paradigms, and using molecular biology assays to validate intracellular targets and mechanisms. I am interested in working in a team and drawing from my strong Neuroscience background to help develop clinically relevant therapeutic candidates to treat neurological disorders.

Scientist IiDicerna Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dec 2022 - Present -
Senior ScientistCoda Biotherapeutics Jun 2022 - Aug 2022South San Francisco, California, United States-Led in-house studies of intrahippocampal kainic acid epilepsy model in rodents to evaluate in vivo efficacy of CODA's chemogenetic therapeutics-Worked to implement in-house EEG recording equipment to be able to record seizures in awake, behaving mice.-Conducted stereotaxic delivery of CODA's AAV gene therapy and EEG electrode placement to assess efficacy of CODA's gene therapy platform on seizure burden.-Led efforts on implementing EEG data collection, analysis, and interpretation of results to help guide CODA's gene therapy development for use in clinical settings.-Managed Research Associates to assist with surgeries, data collection, and data analysis.

Postdoctoral ScholarTufts University School Of Medicine Oct 2018 - Jun 2022-Led project investigating how seizure induced activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis worsens neuropathology, contributes to co-morbid mood disorders, and worsens seizure burden in a mouse model of epilepsy. -Performed stereotaxic surgery to deliver intrahippocampal kainic acid and chemogenetic vectors.-Implanted EEG headmounts with local field potential electrode to record EEG in awake, behaving mice to detect seizures.-Conducted a battery of behavioral assays to test for anxiety- and depression-like states in epileptic mice.-Used immunofluorescence assays to assess neuropathological damage and neurodegeneration following chronic epilepsy.-Ran corticosterone ELISAs to detect changes in circulating corticosterone during epileptogenesis.-Independently collected, analyzed, interpreted, and presented data produced from the project. -
Graduate Student Research AssistantUniversity Of Wisconsin-Madison Sep 2011 - Feb 2018Madison, WisconsinPhD Candidate in the Neuroscience Training ProgramMy thesis work in Dr. Avtar Roopra's laboratory focused on understanding the role for class I Histone Deacetylases (HDACs) in contributing to mTOR dependent synaptic plasticity deficits and a novel decreased seizure threshold phenotype in a mouse model of Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC).-Performed electrophysiology to record long term depression (LTD) and long term potentiation (LTP) in hippocampal slices bath treated with histone deacetylase inhibitors-Modeled epilepsy in rodents using 1) intraperitoneal delivery of kainic acid 2) flurothyl -Used an array of molecular biology techniques (western blotting, qRTPCR, immunofluorescence, protein immunoprecipitation, and chromatin immunoprecipitation) to asses impacts of histone modifiers on synaptic plasticity and seizure burden-Conducted behavioral assays in genetic mouse model of epilepsy to determine therapeutic efficacy of histone modifying drugs on aberrant behavior and seizure threshold.-Independently collected, analyzed, and interpreted data.-Extensive experience presenting data at conferences and invited speaker positions. -
Undergraduate Research AssistantUniversity Of Illinois At Chicago Aug 2008 - Jun 2010As an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Michael Ragozzino's laboratory, I helped generate data in understanding the differential role of 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C receptors in behavioral inflexibility and working memory.
