⭐My goal is not to facilitate the development of great artists but of great *humans.*⭐🌉 In my last position, I acted as a bridge between many entities: educational practice to artist, artist to teachers, art to administrators, digital literacy and tech to artists, community to art, and so on. I have never been comfortable with being one thing, so the ability to engage many of my interests and skills to produce meaningful art experiences and community connections is truly a space where I can thrive.💭In my classroom, students learn not just art, but also science, math, history, communication, and critical thinking. Mistakes are a critical part of the learning process, as well as reflection. I am passionate about art and its cross-disciplinary implications.🌍As a teacher, my students engaged in regular reflection and self-assessment after each project. Additionally, they completed guided reflections at the end of each semester to assess their own growth and learning, look to the future, and also provide critical feedback on my methods so that I could continue to grow as well. I continue this practice as an instructional coach. 💕When young people enter spaces I curate, they know that they are safe, loved, and valued. Every day, students - many of whom were not on my roster - completed their work for other classes so that they could come to mine.🌸At the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year, I initiated a new policy of "Wellness Wednesday." On Wednesdays, I did not present new information, nothing was due, and nothing was assigned. Students were encouraged to do whatever they needed to do to "re-human." The results were incredibly significant in terms of student wellness, chasing curiosity, and time management.🖼As an educator, I am not focused on product but on process; growth is far more critical than a conventionally lovely result. My educational methods are atypical, student/community focused, highly effective, and continually developing.💡I am always open to opportunities to guest teach, observe/participate in lessons, provide guidance, and coach to empower [primarily ADHD] educators to develop methods that work for them. I enjoy working with all ages (but have soft spots for preschoolers, teenagers, and young adults).
