My passion is in urban education and my mission is to narrow the opportunity gap in the United States while tending to the whole child. For the past ten years, I have taught, coached, and mentored students and teachers in Washington, DC and San Jose, CA. I have moved my students up an average of three grade levels in one school year on their math assessment. I have supported my students to have the confidence to chase after their dreams, whether it was to play soccer, volunteer in the community, or be the first in their family to graduate from college. My strength lies in my ability to build relationships with various stakeholders and to facilitate a student-centered classroom that is focused on critical thinking and individualized student growth. My current focus is finding ways to incorporate social work practices into schools.
