As a board member of a Special Service Area (SSA), it is my responsibility to ensure the longevity of the organization and contribute to the overall well-being of the community. In addition to setting policies and budgets for the SSA, approving expenditures and contracts, overseeing the management of the SSA, and representing the SSA to the public and other organizations, I also serve on a placemaking committee, where I work on projects that capitalize on a local community's assets, inspiration, and potential. Our goal is to create public spaces that improve urban vitality and promote people's health, happiness, and well-being. Additionally, I support local businesses in any way possible, particularly during difficult economic times such as recessions. As the manager of a hair salon, it was my responsibility to ensure that the salon runs efficiently and ethically by developing and implementing policies and socially conscious projects that support this goal. This included managing the salon's budget.
