About Trinity Dixon
Every piece of information has a place and a purpose. It is up to me to compose it in a visually interesting way. I seek to simplify the complex, allowing hierarchy in terms of typography, contrast, and color to lead the viewer’s eye from item to item in order of importance.At an early age, I learned to draw from observation, mimicking my older sister’s example. I found I could draw almost anything as long as I broke it up into individual pieces and paid attention to the way different shapes interacted with one another. During that time, I used to visit my dad’s office every day after school and watch his employees layout a daily newspaper. Every element of the paper was carefully organized in a methodical way. I applied this practice to my first love: figure drawing.Influenced by the Bauhaus and avant-garde movements, the process became a way of understanding organic shapes in a geometric way. Whether I am using a pen, pencil, marker, or another medium, I begin the process by drawing an eye and working my way out. I measure the distance from feature to feature by observing the shapes created by the shadows on a figure’s face. My inspirations include Paula Scher’s bold, simplistic logo designs, as well as Tracie Ching's use of strong contrast and vibrant colors in her poster creations. In my design practice, I look for solutions that convey energy through the use of contrast, bold colors, diagonal lines, and geometric shapes.
