•Served as the key user for SAP (Materials Management) and SAP PTP (Procurement to Pay) on providing first and second level support and training to the Rio Tinto’s SAP user community.•Liaised closely with SAP Consultants and with Business Analysts in order raise issues and to determine the symptoms, root causes, and recommended approaches to identifying and solving the problems associated with any functionality problems that may arise within the SAP PTP & MM environment.•Improved master data (materials and vendor) robustness and integrity,•Developed a deep functional knowledge of data, processes, and integration points with other SAP modules, SAP and industry standard best practices, as well as common processes and procedures.•Supported the business with the rollout of new SAP functionality including that of end user testing, and kept site application documentation current with changes and issues.•Provided SAP PTP/MM training and support to site customers as per the Business Solution Key User function and actively communicated any changes and developments within the modules.•Remained current with new developments relating to SAP Global projects.•Managed a large $110Mil (12000+ lines) inventory portfolio with a focus on optimising stock holding whilst meeting critical supply chain objectives for both Hunter Valley and Mt Thorley Warkworth operations.•Completed an in-depth study of inventory holding using both Oniqua Analytics MRO optimisation software and onsite analysis to identify opportunities to reduce inventory holding through a LEAN approach. Subsequently, achieved a reduction of $20Mil in inventory value for 2014-2016 without impact to productivity.•Aided with the transformation Elipse to SAP ERP including rollout of SAP MM and end user training.•Utilised SAP MM to provide accurate and up-to-date reporting on key areas such as purchasing, goods received, material storage and movements, vendors spend, and to identify surplus stock.
