Collaborated with professors in the department to determine topics for articles regarding engineering. Interviewed professionals in the engineering field who were connected to Trinity University. Drafted, revised, and edited articles for publication on the department’s LinkedIn page.

Learned about documentation strategies for my team’s project. Assisted in developing a robot/drone prototype pair for the surveillance of solar power plants. Used Spanish in a professional work environment, as all of my teammates spoke Spanish and the documentation was written in Spanish.

Practiced using Spanish in both casual and professional environments by living with a host family, living day-to-day life in downtown Madrid, and working in an internship (see Accuro Internship) with Spaniards. Gained independence in living and learning by travelling individually to numerous European countries. Gained cultural competence skills by working and living with people from different cultures and backgrounds.

I was accepted to this internship through A&M University, and I worked alongside Dr. Daniel Rehn of Los Alamos National Laboratory on his research in materials science. New skills such as programming, collaboration, and simulation interpretation were obtained, and I now have a stronger appreciation for research and its implications in the scientific community.
