I advise governments and healthcare institutions developing and implementing, strategy, governance and quality systems. I am a patient safety expert with WHO and lead their Patient Safety Friendly Programme. Before setting up FQAS I was Deputy CEO of ISQua my responsibilities included strategy, corporate governance, volunteers and the International Accreditation Programme (IAP). My involvement with ISQua continues as an Expert and Surveyor. I received ISQua’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 for my global work on patient safety.I am recognised as a strategic and outcome focused leader with over 25 years’ experience in senior healthcare management. Former roles include Director of Client Services Irish Health Services Accreditation Board and Lead Investigator with HIQA. Known as an expert in patient safety and quality systems I teach on numerous masters programs, currently working with RCSI, Dublin and the Sultan Qaboos University in Oman. As a speaker on the international conference circuit I regularly present and I am the author of several peer reviewed articles on health care standards, accreditation systems and patient centered care. Commencing my healthcare career as a nurse and midwife, specialising in emergency care, I obtained my academic qualifications from Trinity College Dublin.
