Wire and repair telephone, modulation/demodulation and television cable and other equipment for transmitting messages or TV programming. Duties include locating and repairing defects in existing systems. Placing, re-arranging and removing underground and aerial cables. Installing support functions, installing of Ethernet systems and other auxiliary tasks necessary to maintain lines and cables.• Install terminal boxes and lead in wires.• Repair cable systems, defective lines and auxiliary equipment.• Pull cables through pits and ducts.• Computes impedance of wire from distribution to house determining additional resistance needed for reducing signals to desired levels.• Connect television set to cable system, evaluates incoming signal and adjust system to ensure optimum reception.• Measure signal strength at utility cabinet, using electronic test equipment.• Install and remove equipment such as decoders and modems.• Dig holes and buries subscriber’s drop cables.• Fills and tamps holes using earth, cement or tar.• Responsible for maintaining and cleaning tools and test equipment.• Responsible for customer education how cable television, internet and telephone services works.
