About Trish Brown

I have been a theatre and film director, an actress, and a professor of theatre for the past 20 years. I hold an MFA in Directing from Chicago College of the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University and a BA in Theatre from Principia College. I am the Founding Artistic Director of Prism Theatre Company and a Professor of Theatre at Principia College. I am a process-based, ensemble director and utilize a number of acting methods in my work. I am also a founding member of The Moving Dock Theatre Company, a Chicago-based company dedicated to the actor’s creative process through use of the Chekhov technique. I have a great passion for education. It was that passion that prompted me to return to the St. Louis area to assume the role of Associate Professor of Theatre at Principia College in 2000. I redesigned and built the College’s Theatre program. My educational productions won numerous recognitions, including two Best Production for State of Illinois awards from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. I have also co-produced and directed the first iteration of Petalwink: the Musical, a new TYA production currently in development, and Bottom Little Theatre, a new comedy short series. I am a founding member of Bankside Repertory Theatre Company, a MICHA member, an ATHE member, and a proud Associate Member of SDC.
