The LEF mission was to disrupt the existing supply chain with tastier, more sustainable, cleaner and more nutritious New England-grown cut salad greens at a cost which would be competitive with the Southwest supply chain. It required new technology for large-scale indoor growing. It was born from a collaboration with Akshay Kolte and Alice Leung, recent Babson grads who had a concept for indoor growing in small-scale commercial and residential applications, After years of R&D this vision was built in partnership with Pleasant View Gardens.

What started as an angel investment turned in to this terrific national brand, superb product, worthy mission and most importantly, an exceptional team of people .

I interrupted an MBA career for my first love which was art, thinking I would indulge myself in a year or two of painting. I was fortunate to have a modest following and a flow of commissions. By the time my ex-husband and I became angel investors in a baker I had no intention of leaving my paint box behind. But the business needed help and what I thought would be a few months of clean-up work at Dancing Deer turned into 15 years of enormously satisfying work.

Provided financial and market development services to early stage companies.During this time I also founded a consumer electronics product venture in the animal care industry. Although I wasn’t successful, other parties in the industry have since made a viable product category based on the same technology.

I left college half way through my senior year to help dig my Dad out of a Chapter 11 Reorganization. He was the inventor of bottle and can recycling on an industrial basis and pioneered the consumer/municipla/waste collection/industrial user interfaces that made this possible, as well as develop technology solutions for processing materials and commodity standards for glass cullet and post consumer tin and aluminum. I helped market the system to municipalities, fend off creditors, shovel product, fix machines, run the night shift - whatever we needed to do to make payroll.
