My leadership roles in Education have been various and beneficial to my growth as a leader of kaiako and ākonga: more than 20 years in Deputy/Assistant Principal roles, twice setting up new schools, 3 as an RTLB, followed by furthering my work in Special Education at the Ministry of Education, as a Special Education Advisor, an AP in a Special School context., leadership of Supported Learning in the Tertiary sector overseeing 4 campuses, and learning advisor and kaimanaaki at Te Kura, The roles I developed and am most proud of are: the development of an Outreach Service and team working across mainstream schools in South Auckland/ the development and coaching, mentoring of the Middle Leaders./ curriculum integration and design in primary and authentic learning across all contexts/ the development of kaiako competencies in te ao Māori/ assessment and Learning to Learn leadership/ Literacy leadership from Primary to Secondary/ Leadership of Pacifica initiatives including Tāpasa/PE and EOTC Leadership/ Well being Leadership/ Leader of Coaching of Kaiako and Middle Leaders /PB4L and PBS development and leadership/ Leadership of Teacher Development. I am hoping that the specialist knowledge I have gained over the last few years will improve my practice and the competencies of others whom I support.My studies in leadership in education, coaching teachers and connecting this with best evidence teaching and learning and inclusive practices, have had a significant influence on my career.I am particularly interested in continuing to learn about leadership, change management and school improvement.
