In this role, I acted as the one-person marketing team, working cross-functionally with Great Value Accommodation Holiday Park Managers, the Sales team, and senior stakeholders to streamline content marketing campaigns. I helped to generate a 50% increase in social media reach and online traffic within two years by recommending that holiday park managers engage with their communities and post updates about their parks regularly. I tracked internal market trends and consumer insights using Google Business Analytics, Google Maps, and Ahrefs SEO, focusing on B2C research. I also analysed competitor and external market trends to identify weak points within our marketing approach. Every month, I produced reports that assessed the marketing health of the park, and took inspiration from other campaigns as recommendations.I worked to pioneer the Monthly Email Daily Marketing Newsletter Strategy using EmailOctopus, which saw a 20% increase in email sign-ups and bookings within the first month. I also trialed ActiveCampaign, and MailChimp before settling on EmailOctopus. Verified emails using MyEmailVerify.I consistently updated holiday park websites using WordPress, Divi, Elementor, and Wix. The websites covered news and park information. I strived to keep each website up-to-date, and engaging for visitors.I also monitored discretionary budgetary spending, making financial recommendations within the monthly Marketing Reports.

As the Wire Producer for the Monday Wire, I would seek out 2-3 original stories per show to showcase to our audience, based on my interests, and natural curiosity. I devised open-ended questions, researched, and confidently pitched original news stories/investigations, understanding what the 95bfm audience was curious about. The questions acted as a guideline for conversation, rather than a checklist. I reached out to potential interviewees via email or phone, asking for their availability, and would conduct a 'pre-interview' to ease their concerns about the discussion and to let a natural conversation flow. I would be in contact with Communications Advisors for various Politicians, Professors, and CEOs, depending on the story and interview, factoring interviewee schedules against personal deadlines.As an example of my networking skills, I added Autism New Zealand CEO Dane Dougan to the 95bfm Contact list, interviewing him several times during my tenure. I had initially reached out to learn about Autistic Burnout for my second story on the Wire, before contacting him again for other relevant stories.This role established my copywriting and proofreading skills. I can transcribe 60-70 WPM.This role taught me a lot about the human condition and the desire to continually learn, opening my eyes to various perspectives that exist outside of my own. I strived to improve the quality of my stories, the conversations I held with guests, and ensuring the audio would sound perfect. Where possible, I would frequently return to guests, treating subsequent stories like a catch-up.

I started as a writer for the Monday Breakfast Show, slowly working my way up during my tenure as a volunteer. I honed my writing skills, working closely with another writer, and the Newsreader, to find various national and international stories of significance, and prepared them to air live on radio. I became comfortable with working within the fast-paced nature news environment of 95bfm, learning the best ways to format stories within RCSNews so that the newsreader can speak clearly on air.After a year, I moved on to Morning Glory as a Newsreader, learning how to adapt my voice so I could efficiently read the news bulletin, and respectfully pronounce core Te Reo phraseology where necessary. I also remained as a writer for the Breakfast Show, assisting the news team on Wednesday Mornings.At times, I would show initiative and step up as a newsreader during the breakfast shift when the usual newsreader could not make it into the station.

Ongoing role, where I assist in managing the establishment in high-stress situations, and with little notice, while staying in Rotorua.In this role, I learned the basic tenets of the Fast Consumer Manufacturing Goods industry such as understanding the psychology of product placement across the store, rotating stock to maintain freshness for customer satisfaction, managing orders with representatives from the major FCMG corporations, and running sponsored competitions.I also gained proficiency in operating cash registers, processing payments, and handling cash and card payments with zero discrepancies or errors. I learned how to manage customer complaints and resolve issues effectively, resulting in a 98% satisfaction rate.I also gained certification to sell Lotto in this role.

This short-term hybrid Marketing/Journalism role involved freelance work, covering stories that resonated with clients affiliated with Pop That. Team communication and idea generation occurred through Asana and Slack.Working for Pop That was an amazing experience, as I watched a young team of go-getters build a fresh creative agency and extend their talents to working with existing brands. I took away two key lessons from this experience. One was understanding how a start-up creative agency is run.Secondly, I learned how to highlight case studies as a tool to grow a business-focused audience and attract new clients to an agency.

This role utilized my audio editing skills to work on the health-focused podcast 'Chat On This'. Podcast episodes ranged from 7 to 15 minutes, and were ready and scheduled for a weekly release.I used Adobe Audition and Audacity to clean up the background noise and ensured that the interviewer and guest sounded crisp and clear to their audience. I also used Google Drive to share files on time and efficiently with the client (Advanced Health Group) and communicated rates, timeframe, workload, and schedules for each episode via email.This experience was eye-opening for me, as I took the audio engineering skills I learned while volunteering at 95bfm, and applied them to build experience working with an external client. I also learned how to efficiently manage my time while catering to the needs of said client, this includes blocking out time for re-edits, and any other changes that were needed. This is the first role I have worked in a freelance capacity, learning how to run my own business as I went, which has proved to be one of the most valuable assets in my career so far.After two months of assisting my client to grow their podcast, they were set up to take over editing duties. While I no longer work for this client, I am still honing my audio editing and podcasting skills, and I am open to working with more clients to set up their podcasts. I am also open to leveraging these skills for an existing marketing role, as a means to create another avenue to connect with audiences.
