A critical part of the job is time management and self discipline as you must complete your allotted prescriptions or carry them over to the next day. Responsibilities include checking the correct patient name, medication, strength and directions, DAW code, drug or disease interactions, and verify that the state laws of all 50 states and federal law is being followed. Additionally, strict adherence to SOP while completing your work in a timely manner with no errors is a priority. My strong retail background helps me succeed in this job as it is sometimes very difficult to interpret a written prescription without having the ability to walk over and look at it. My over 20 years experience in retail pharmacy gives me a real edge when it comes to knowing medications, strengths, uses and the law. I am extremely self disciplined and have no problem working on my own and keeping my mind on the job nor do I have any problem asking for help or looking something up when I don't know the answer. -

My regular duties included new pharmacist training, technician training, interviewing and hiring of new staff, coaching and goal setting for under performing staff, letting go of staff as necessary, technician scheduling, budgeting and inventory management, conflict resolution among my staff, goal setting and achievement of my business objectives, narcotic ordering and inventory. The front store managers and I had a very good relationship, attended meetings together and worked well together for the good of the store. I held my pharmacy meetings off-site at places like the bowling alley to foster a feeling of togetherness. Personal service to my patients remained a priority and although time was limited, speaking to them was still my greatest reward
