The Land and Water Lab's research focuses on coupled human and natural systems within the broad field of environmental geoscience. We are an interdisciplinary group drawn to sustainable agriculture and land management, water resources management, food and water development, and applied hydrology and hydrogeology. We combine both field and lab methods to interpret human interactions with the environment, and we integrate applied models to prepare for future resource challenges. Our main priorities are to promote end-user livelihood and resource sustainability while maximizing environmental production. We are passionate about service-based research and are committed to achieving environmental harmony.

Supporting Open Innovation in Earth Science Applied Science’s Open Innovation and Community Applications Program at NASA Headquarters.In this role, I am supporting crowdsourcing activities, including organizing hackathons and prize competitions. These events invite talents and experiences of people outside of the NASA community to participate in the discovery and development of applications of Earth observations (EOs). EOs-based products and services support decision-making in various sectors, including public health, disaster risk reduction and response, water resource management, ecological forecasting, food security and agriculture, and capacity development. I am also participating in strategy development, including identifying critical project needs, key partners, and outlining tasks. I am supporting tasks related to project management, and communications, and outreach, such as generating internal and external communications reports, facilitating meetings, and working with different NASA departments including General Counsel, Partnerships, etc.

I currently teach Environmental Science with lab (NAS 107) and Science Communication (NAS 225) at Flagler College in the Natural Sciences department. The Natural Sciences department strives to get students involved in undergraduate research while providing hands on learning in the classroom setting. My approach to hands on learning is using a flipped classroom model and outdoor laboratories.

I worked in a project management role supporting a small geospatial research team at the NASA DEVELOP Boston node. Our team uses NASA Earth Observations and other geospatial analysis to assess flooding risk in the Charles River Watershed. We are working with multiple stakeholders to assist high water intervention and urban planning programs by providing new data and insights into flood frequency, vulnerability, and susceptibility, as well as watershed degradation across the watershed. DEVELOP, part of NASA’s Applied Sciences Program, addresses environmental and public policy issues through interdisciplinary research projects that apply the lens of NASA Earth observations to community concerns around the globe. Bridging the gap between NASA Earth Science and society, DEVELOP builds capacity in both participants and partner organizations to better prepare them to address the challenges that face our society and future generations. With the competitive nature and growing societal role of science and technology in today’s global workplace, DEVELOP is fostering an adept corps of tomorrow’s scientists and leaders.

I worked as part of a small geospatial research team using NASA Earth Observations and other geospatial analysis to assess landcover change and runoff potential in Riley County, Kansas. We worked with multiple stakeholders to relate land cover and land use changes to infiltration and runoff distribution to help our partners inform their local resiliency initiatives. Professional work supporting and shaping the City of Oldsmar's Solid Waste, Recycling, and Environmental Sustainability programs and providing technical reviews of plans and permits to ensure compliance with City Codes. Work is performed under the direction of the Director of Public Works and in coordination with all City Departments.

The Demand Management associate works with the Demand ManagementCoordinator, along with other members of the Systems section. This position performs a wide variety of demand management development and evaluation support responsibilities including:-Coordinating water conservation programs in the tri-county, Tampa Bay Water region.-Evaluating conservation programs and policies.-Development of white papers on various research topics.-Researching water use and development of graphics and output for use by others.-Evaluating specific program cost and overall effectiveness.-Developing measures for regional water use efficiency efforts.

Monitoring energy usage in county buildings; Assists in development, promotion, implementation and coordination of County’s energy conservation programs; Performs spatial analysis and creates datasets using GIS software.

The mission of the Sustany Sustainable Business Program is to promote sustainability by partnering with local businesses to identify and adopt best practices that encourage economic, environmental, and community accountability. The program includes designation from the City of Tampa as a certified Green Business. Sustainability and Environmental Science Lab & Special Project Educator

Created a SWOT analysis of a pilot 'Payment for Ecosystem Services' program with best practices from similar programs across Latin America.

Assisted in the Ecosystem Ecology lab conducting research on the NSF funded ULTRA-ex project lead by Principal Investigator David Lewis and Co-PIs: Fenda Akiwumi, Thomas Crisman, Mark Rains, and Rebecca Zarger. The project, "Urban development, power relations, and water redistribution as drivers of wetland change in the Tampa Bay Region Socioecosystem" required chemistry lab work, data entry, soil sampling, GPS navigation, and plant identification.
