I served as Assistant Attorney General in the Bureau of Consumer Frauds and Protection at the Office of the Attorney General for the State of New York. I led investigations and prosecutions of companies and individuals, argued motions, created, led, and successfully completed several new initiatives for the Office, authored extensive pleadings, briefs, and evidentiary filings, took sworn testimony from witnesses, conducted hundreds of interviews of witnesses and whistleblowers, and negotiated complex and groundbreaking settlement agreements with some of the largest companies in the US. My work was recognized with the Louis J. Lefkowitz Memorial Award in 2012.Highlights:-- Investigated and prosecuted Trump University, The Trump Organization, and Donald J. Trump for fraud and violations of NY Education Law, building evidentiary case over 2+ years, authoring extensive pleadings, briefs, and findings of fact, and serving as attorney of record in the subsequent proceeding, ultimately resulting in a $25M settlement that included refunds for victims and $1M in penalties-- Created successful initiative to bring unit pricing information to online grocery websites and apps, nationwide, negotiating cooperative agreements with Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, Drugstore.com, Costco, and FreshDirect-- Prosecuted Bank of America, Chase, and Wells Fargo along with Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems ("MERS") for fraudulent and deceptive business practices in processing foreclosures; negotiated settlement that included $26M in restitution and a groundbreaking agreement with the first ever show-the-note requirement for foreclosures in New York State-- Prosecuted company that fraudulently debited over $11M from over 100,000 former lessees, negotiating a settlement for a full nationwide refund and over $500K in penalties

I served as a law clerk to the Honorable Eric Vitaliano, U.S. District Judge in the Eastern District of New York.

I worked in WilmerHale's intellectual property litigation and appellate and Supreme Court litigation practice groups, leading offensive discovery, engaging in extensive motion practice, taking and defending over a dozen depositions, preparing technical experts for deposition and trial, and preparing trial exhibits and direct and cross examination outlines. Highlights:-- Represented top web platforms Yahoo, Craigslist, and Myspace in successful federal appeals finding that they were within the safe harbor from liability for user content-- Represented Broadcom in its patent litigation with Qualcomm regarding cellular chips and software, which ultimately resulted in a $1.2B settlement, including judgments, in Broadcom's favor-- Represented orthopedic device maker Smith & Nephew in patent infringement case in the Eastern District of Texas, leading offensive discovery, and resulting in favorable multi-million dollar jury verdict-- Represented the plaintiffs in the case of Boumediene v. Bush, which resulted in the first habeas corpus petitions being granted to order the release of a group of detainees from Guantanamo Bay Naval Base
