Developed a tool to optimize design parameters of diesel Exhaust Aftertreatment System (EAS) while reflecting the cost impact of each parameter. Developement process included the following steps:- Analyzed the existing design specifications of Euro VI EAS using teardowns.- Analyzed Euro VI EAS performance using portable emission measurement system (PEMS).- Identified the problem with reference to Euro VI- and tentative Euro VII- emission regulation.- Estimated performance increment required to meet Euro VII regulation.- Conducted key-issue focused literature survey and benchmarking for possible design configurations.- Developed paramteric tool to predict EAS design parameters and cost drivers for possible Euro VII designs, using MATLAB and MS Excel.- Comparing design and cost of EAS using the EAS tool outputs.- 1 of 6 designs was concluded as both cost effective and efficient.
