As a return intern, I overhauled autocomplete from a static frontend approach to a dynamic backend approach reflecting real data in Elasticsearch. Tested implementation by writing new unit, integration, and canary tests and created AWS CloudWatch alarms, metrics, and dashboards. Improved search results by 28% for exact keyword match queries of a major category, diagnosed by writing a multithreaded Python script.

Currently mentoring the games project area where student mentees will have one week to create a final game project in Pygame. Held lab hours and tutored 10+ hours on topics such as algorithms, recursion, state machines, Python, Pygame (game loop basics, gravity, collisions, movement, sprites), and image manipulation.

Defined cloud infrastructure using AWS Cloud Development Kit with TypeScript and deployed CloudFormation stacks for my application. Created and modified React components styled with Sass and called my API using Axios for create, read, update, and delete functionalities.

ACM Dimensions is an upcoming annual collegiate technology conference that is going to be held at UC San Diego. I am managing the finance team for the conference, which is drafting up a $100k+ budget for 40+ organizers. I am also directing funding efforts such as creating budget proposals to UC San Diego Departments and funding sources. On the side I am implementing parts of the conference’s responsive website with React and Node.js.

The UC San Diego Design Lab Automation Playground is engaging with Ford, a major Original Equipment Manufacturer, to explore how the configuration of a vehicle cockpit can allow a driver to understand, negotiate and manage the shared autonomy in vehicles with SAE Level 2+/3 automated driving systems. There are several design possibilities for making the sharing explicit as well as helping the driver maintain situational awareness. The research examines dynamic sharing that responds to situation changes with continuous feedback rather than discrete warnings.Student research assistants work in team of 8 to explore 7 related research sub-topics, including Situation Awareness, Verbal Communication, Negotiation, Relationships, Driving In-The-Wild, Implications of SAE Level 2+/3 vehicles, as well as developing technical knowledge related to the research topics and simulation opportunities for further exploration of the topics. I was on the technical team among the 7 sub-topics.

Cal Poly Pomona DesignU is an internship that teaches technical design and professional practices. Interns were introduced to topics such as the brainstorming process, pitching projects to clients, project scoping, and conducting case studies. I collaborated in large teams to brainstorm a variety of engineering problems and possible solutions. Then I pitched a machine learning goal tracking application design prototype to 2 professors and 14 other interns. The internship continued with a college student mentor guiding me throughout the rest of high school.
