Capitol Hill Medical is an LGBTQ focused clinic that exists to serve the unique medical needs of the Seattle LGBTQ community. Gay, Lesbian, Trans*, and those patients in between often have significant distrust of the medical community - the result of an inability of providers to relate to or understand them, the fear of being judged, and in the worst cases, outright discrimination. We are LGBTQ clinicians in Seattle offering primary care services to gays, lesbians, bisexuals, trans,* and queer patients, as well as our allies and friends. Among our clinical interests are sexual health, HIV management, and hormone therapy to our trans* patients who are in transition. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of our patients by offering the highest quality evidence-based medicine in a setting of open acceptance. Nurse Practitioner at Swedish Medical Center - Weight Loss Services Department. • Partner with patients in assisting to reduce weight with nutritional education, stress management, physical activity, hydration and sleep. Also by ordering and reviewing labs, prescribing weight loss medications, making appropriate referrals or sending for other diagnostics, and coordinating with the patient’s other providers for the best possible outcomes in reducing weight to improve all aspects of health. • Assist patients in preoperative and postoperative patient care by following the American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) guidelines to provide exceptional care to patients.• Work with the bariatric surgical team towards weight loss surgery including bariatric surgeons, other advance practice clinicians (ARNP’s and PA’s), registered dietitians, psychologists, nurse care coordinators, and ancillary staff (RN’s, LPN’s, MA’s, PSC’s in Front desk/back office/scheduling/billing). • Coordinate care with other providers within the clinic’s three subspecialties (Weight Management, Diabetes, and Endocrinology) by discussing patients at collaborative meetings.

Worked in the Pre-Admission Department performing chart reviews, obtaining health history with patients, coordinating with surgeon offices, and assisting anesthesiologist to make sure patients were safe for surgery at FHSC. Created new employee orientation materials, worked on policy revisions and updates, and implemented and developed quality improvement projects to assist in showcasing the need for more staff and overall creating a sustainable department.
