I was an Eagle Boy Scout. After High School I joined the Marines and became part of a Marine Corps Recon unit for 4 years. I worked a few jobs after the Marines, butcher, meat cutter, steel building design and estimating. I started my own business in 1998, Hoffmans Yellowstone Landscape and worked that until the end of 2007. I became retired in 2008. I am currently helping my wife who is a consultant for Thrive Live Foods. The company deals with freeze dried food and food storage. I became a part of team because I don't ever want my family to be without. I went to the Katrina aftermath and pulled cars out of the muck with a tow truck. Seeing the devastation and other events Mother Nature can cause scared me. Being the head of my family I don't ever want my wife or kids to ask me why they are hungry and cold. I have made each member of my family an emergency kit for their cars, a 72 hour pack with food, water and clothes and then I have also prepared a bigger backpack for longer situations such as the devastation Katrina caused leaving thousands of hungry, thirsty and not a roof over their head. Being head of my family I couldn't bear the reality of my family ever being hungry or cold. When I hear I can't afford it, I tell people you can't afford not to. The food has a shelf life for 25 years and probably longer in some cases. I pray I and my family never have to live through a catastrophe but its a comfort to know if one should happen I can keep my family fed and a roof over their head. Its as simple an answer as to why people buy auto insurance, aside for its illegal not to. You hope your never in a car accident but if you are you have insurance to help cover the cost of getting your car repaired or recover the cost of the car. Buying food storage is no different. We cook with it quite often aside from just being used as a food storage. Freeze dried doesn't spoil saving our food budget from throwing away spoiled food. We all have had to throw away bad food

  Became part of the the Thrive Live community to help build my food storage and also help my family and friends do the same. Never know when you won't be able to just run to Walmart. The hurricane Katrina was an eye opener for myself. Went down there to pull cars out of the muck and seen so much devastation. Then watching the news and how bad people had it.
