Biography of Troy Lear My career in safety started when I was 17 years old and joined the army as a 44B (Welder). Growing up in Sheldon, Mo., population 499, my exposure to the real world was very limited but good old Uncle Sam changed that. After a few years I switched jobs in the army and became a heavy equipment operator for the Missouri Army National Guard, and attended MSSU Police Academy. While working in law enforcement, Volunteer Firefighter and private security I pursued my degree in Occupational Safety and Health (B.S.). Three months after receiving my degree, I completed a 16 month long Officer Basic Course and became a second Lieutenant for the Army. With my interest in safety, I held several jobs in law enforcement, security, firefighter and the last 13 years have been as a safety director and manager at 3 companies. In 2015 my wife and I decided to stand up on our own and opened Lear’s Safety Service. Specializing in Construction and Mine Safety. I held certifications to include: OSHA outreach instructor for the OSHA 10 and 30 hour Construction, OSHA 30 Hour General Industry, Firefighter I,II, Certified Law Enforcement Officer, CPR & 1st Aid Instructor, Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) Part 48 Certified Instructor, Welder/Metal Worker, Heavy Equipment Operator, Emergency Response to Terrorism, Industrial Rescue-Train the Trainer Certification, Spider Lift Certified, 3 D Drivers Instructor, Completed a 40 hour Environmental Coordinator Course for the State of Missouri, FEMA IS-2 Emergency preparedness, Basic Inflatable Safety Operations Certification, DOT Alcohol & Drugs-Supervisor Training, FEMA National Incident Management System Certification, Trackmobile Instructor, Certified Forklift Aerial Lift Scissor Lift and Skid Steer Instructor, Certified Confined Space Instructor D2000 Program, Certified Tower Climber and Rescue Instructor.
