I’ve been passionate about hydraulic engineering since first operating a physical hydraulic model over 20 years ago. Throughout my career, I’ve channeled this passion into becoming an accomplished researcher and hydraulic engineer, growing a high-performing team, and continually seeking to challenge myself and those around me. My particular strengths include strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and an aptitude for problem-solving. As a division director and supervisor, I have experience in human resources processes, administration, and strategic planning. As the lead investigator of hydraulic engineering research projects, I have the responsibilities of proposal development, budget and schedule management, engineering design, testing, reporting, and client management. My specific expertise includes hydraulic evaluation and design, river hydraulics, physical laboratory and numerical modeling, sediment transport, two-phase flows, and fish passage. Many of my projects have focused on the design, testing, and improvement of dams and spillways and related structures such as energy dissipators, screens, gates, intakes, diversions, weirs, trash racks, flow training structures, etc.
