Levismar. Freelance Commercial Director. At Levismar I was successful at processing new and existing client tender invitations, contracts, estimating, quotes, design, take-offs, BofQ’s, RAMS, Temporary Works etc. I undertook all commercial and operational processes through to contract completion of individual projects. Managing the team, both Commercial and Operational. Typical works were ground-works, form-work, RC frame, piling, underpinning, general builders work etc. I encountered many short term diverse types of projects that were successfully completed. I personally tendered for a combined £19m worth of contracts over five months, securing £900K at my 8th month point of departure with quite possibly further contracts being awarded to Levismar after my departing.

York Risk Services Group. Freelance Cost Consultant/Insurance Claims Analyst. For this Freelance assignment I relocated to the British Virgin Islands (Caribbean) to undertake the role of Cost Consultant/Insurance Claims Analyst. I was engaged in the estimation for reconstruction costs for residential, commercial and resort type premises following the extensive destruction caused by Hurricane Irma. I managed the cost analyses and mediation of claims settlement for some fifty separate insurance claims covering all the various elements of building damage totalling in excess of $60 million. By identifying cost savings on this assignment I managed to successfully reduce the claimant’s reconstruction costs by some $10 million, thereby enabling a considerable pay-out saving for some Lloyds of London and Real Legacy insurance syndicates.

John Graham Construction Ltd. Freelance Interim Senior Site Manager. My role was to cover site team holidays and assist Graham’s Construction Director and SPM in completing a new multi-million school project located in North Wembley, London. My duties consisted of the usual Site Management and specifically geared towards the site set-up, H&S protocol and installation of temporary classroom and catering facilities, comprehensive groundwork's activities, steel-frame set-up, supervision of Crane works, subcontractors etc. Contract value £11.8m

INTERIOR FIT-OUT - offices and healthcare

In November 2008 I re-located to Russia and worked continuously throughout this period as a freelance senior QS, Construction and Contracts Manager in Izhevsk city (site & office based). While working as a project manager I also completed the QS role on various projects including the construction of a traditional Timber frame apartment complex consisting of six high-end quality residences (2009-2010, value £3m); followed by the construction of a commercial shopping complex. Construction was RC frame substructure and steel frame superstructure, the complex consisting of twenty five shopping units with a restaurant, the building was set-out over three levels with an exterior glazed curtain wall cladding system together with under-croft car-park to accommodate sixty vehicles (2011-2013, value £8.5m); during 2013-2015 I did oversee as Senior QS/Project Manager the complete strip-out and refurbishment of 87 existing 1950’s concrete plank style social housing apartments, this included all M&E, managing contractors, design (interior elements), cost value efficiency and budget planning, health & safety, project pre-construction plan, tenders, construction programme, schedule of works, cost analyses, contract administration, sub-contractor payment plans etc (value £12m).

Apex Building & Construction Group, Melton Mowbray, Leic’s. Lead QS/Project Manager -for new build commercial shopping units and residential housing project consisting of 24 apartments, under-croft parking, services and roadway. Dealing with all cost analyses, tenders, contracts and payments, various technical, engineering and design & build issues (site & office based), project programme, schedule of works etc. This was a very troubled and lagging project that I took-on and successfully turned around. In my first six weeks on site acting as QS I managed to save the contractor a further £150,000 by simply re-assessing their cost paid for all plant, machinery and materials. Contract value £4.5m.
