About Troy Richards

I began my career in biopharma as a cell culture and molecular biology bench scientist later specializing in upstream process development. I moved into biopharma project management concentrating on CMC projects. From there I became an account manager in the biopharma/clinical cold chain industry. I believe in providing service that exceeds the customer's expectations rather than matching expectations. Over my career I have been both a customer and a vendor which allows me to see all challenges for each party. As a customer of drug development contractors, I understand the importance of securing reliable, top quality vendors at a reasonable price to meet the needs of drug development. As a vendor, I know the importance of meeting the customers needs, solving their problems and helping them be successful. As a CMC project manager in biopharma, I was responsible for pushing a promising therapeutic antibody from pre-clinical production to the clinic where it is now in phase II studies. It was an enormous undertaking in which I gained valuable insight and experience including serving as an author on an IND and helping manage clinical trial supplies. My responsibilities included contractor selection, audits, and budget/project management among many others. I worked with CMOs, CROs, and clinical trial distribution contractors. I have audited many contractors through the years and understand what good contractors provide.. Specialties: upstream process development, process transfer, cross-functional project team leadership, process design, commercial production support, GMPs, QA/QC support, analytics, contractor audits, contractor/vendor management, account management, inside sales, trade shows, contract reviews, extensive project management experience, cold chain supply, clinical trial supply, CMO and CRO procurement, RFP and budget development.
