Troy Rienstra is a dynamic leader whose journey spans over two decades of advocacy, entrepreneurship, and community service. His life embodies redemption, resilience, and strategic vision, making him a sought-after expert in criminal justice reform, business development, and social impact initiatives. Being both a resident and business owner in Pontiac, he brings a particular focus to youth entrepreneurial development as a means to reduce violence, create an ecosystem and cater to developing healthy downtown business and living. As a key figure in the formation of the Calvin Prison Initiative (CPI), Troy lead the development of the MDOC & Calvin University instituting higher education opportunities for incarcerated individuals, leading to over 62 bachelor's degrees awarded and significantly transforming prison culture by promoting education and rehabilitation. Troy also was instrumental in passing the Clean Slate Initiative, which allows millions of Michiganders the ability to have their criminal records expunged, has provided countless individuals with a fresh start.As the co-owner of a consulting company, Troy works with businesses and organizations to overcome challenges, turn around operations, and achieve sustainable growth. His strategic approach to development is grounded in a deep understanding of human behavior, making him an effective consultant and advisor. Successfully transforming peoples ideas into reality, allowing a greater scope of opportunities to develop. Art and the element of creativity are true staples in how he functions, builds and leads. Troy further demonstrates his commitment to community service through co-founding the Coalition to Oppose Domestic Abuse (CODA), a non-profit focused on fostering healthy relationships, filling gaps in services and supporting survivors of domestic abuse. He was appointed by Sheriff Swanson as Ambassador to the Sheriff of Genesee County, where he contributes to the I.G.N.I.T.E. program, underscoring his dedication to public service and improving the lives of those impacted by the criminal justice system. Troy understands public service and continues to work with organizations across the state & nation to improve best practices and create healthy communities. Troy's involvement ranges from Board Member of the National Network for Justice (Colorado), a Communications Institute Master Fellow with Opportunity Agenda (New York), and a member of the advisory committee for the Michigan Justice Fund (Michigan).
