It's a powerful engine that not many people know how to unleash.Some example projects I have worked on includes developing a system to integrate a BigCommerce online store with Google Merchant Centre and Google Shopping. This system allowed for the data feed to be best optimised for click-through-rates and exposure on the Google Shopping platform by giving the ability to modify product title, categories, unit pricing, descriptions, images, without affecting the shopping experience on the actual online store. A similar system was developed to work within the Magento backend to allow for different product, image, and description feeds to those seen on the online store. These features were not available in existing commercial solutions so the customisation allowed the client to really benefit from Google Shopping Product Data Feed optimisation.Another successful product was a commercially sold WordPress plugin that allowed customers to easily split test Google AdSense or other ad providers within Wordpress posts, pages, and sidebars.
