I lead a progressive team of experienced hardware engineers in the development of complex Packet Optical circuit packs for Ciena's WaveRouter, Waveserver and 6500 platforms. The designs we deliver are some of the most complex/dense in the industry, pushing 2000 W, 32 layer PCB's, 10k+ components and 35k+ nets.Leveraging strong technical and project management skills, as well as a comprehensive hardware development methodology, I guide my team to successfully deliver multiple high quality hardware products per year. This includes sole responsibility for hardware products that integrate Ciena's proprietary Wavelogic coherent modem technology. With responsibility for delivering final hardware products to volume production, not only do I manage the core hardware development, but I am responsible for coordinating all of the dependent cross functional disciplines required to deliver hardware to market. These include Mechanical/Thermal design, FPGA, FW, Regulatory Compliance and Operations.Key technologies we work with include 56G/112G PAM4 SerDes, high-speed pluggable optics (QSFP-DD800/OSFP), high-speed flyover cables, latest generation Broadcom DNX chipsets (J2c+/J3), advanced Xilinx/Intel FPGA's, PCI-e and complex multi-phase switch-mode power supplies. I also have extensive background designing in multi-node x86 server architectures, including proprietary integration with Ethernet switching fabrics.
