Design building structures and foundations of conventional materials such as steel, concrete, masonry, wood, prestressed concrete, post-tensioned concrete, tilt-up concrete, stone, FRP (fiberglass), aluminum, lumber, timber, logs, and proprietary products. Team up with clients (mostly architects) by leading teams of other engineers and drafters on structural design projects that span several months with the intent of producing documents for public bid and, eventually, construction. Observe and provide construction administration support. Consult owners, insurance companies and attorneys by providing expert analysis, reports and testimony on structural failures, problems, and other deficiencies in order to decide whether to take legal action.Mentor and provide training for less experienced structural engineers within my company with the intent of helping them become competent and useful for the benefit and safety of the public.

Company By-Laws require the President is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors.Create and update company policies. Hold meetings with the staff to inform them about changes to company policies.Set the tone of the office atmosphere. Influence the company culture to create a working environment where employees and managers can function at their best. Hold staff bonding events such as retreats and "fun" days.Review and sign contracts with major clients. Foster relationships with clients and employees. Provide sounding board for feedback from clients and employees.Create agendas, schedule and arrange meeting places and times for staff meetings, board of director meetings, and shareholder meetings. Review, sign and submit all company meeting minutes, board of directors meeting minutes, shareholders meeting minutes, and submit appropriate minutes to company lawyers as official records.Meet with engineering managers to discuss direction of the company, provide vision of future and Eclipse Engineering and outline the steps needed to get there.

Interface with clients to win contracts for structural engineering projects, and allocate the projects to structural engineers for production of construction documents including drawings, specifications, reports, etc. Ultimately responsible for delivering all construction documents produced by the firm to clients in a timely manner. Responsible for holding each project under a lump sum fee negotiated between the firm and its clients. Responsible for ensuring structural engineering design can be built under project construction budget. Responsible for quality of deliverable products to meet high standards of the firm.Responsible for recruiting, hiring, firing, re-locating, and laying off staff for positions of structural engineer, draftsman, secretary, receptionist, and administrative assistant. Responsible for setting salaries and benefits of all staff. Responsible for discretionary bonuses, quarterly bonuses, and annual bonuses for all staff.In charge of resolving scheduling disputes between clients and engineers. In charge of resolving scheduling disputes between engineers and draftsmen.Provide quality assurance review of construction documents to ensure that structural engineering design meets or exceeds industry standards and will protect the safety and welfare of the public per adopted state law.Provide continuing education opportunities for structural engineers, update company library, distribute knowledge to the entire staff to current industry standards.

Team up with clients such as architects to provide structural engineering designs of buildings and foundations using conventional materials such as concrete, steel, masonry and wood.Mentor less experienced engineers, and more experienced engineers by teaching newer techniques I learned in graduate school.
