About Troy Williams
It’s great to be working to bring stakeholders together to advance the interests of Australia’s independent #SkillsTraining and #HigherEducation providers as they set about the training and reskilling of Australia’s workforce. Strengthening the relationship between our members, Ministers and the business community is rewarding. I enjoy working with peak business organisations and I’ve been fortunate in that the roles I have been asked to take-up let me guide the membership through the process of strengthening an association’s policy advocacy capacity. At the same time membership expands as a result of new service delivery. This experience has proven invaluable as I work with the elected leadership of industry associations to set the strategy and delivery pathways that has allowed the organisations to grow, serve their members and have a voice at parliamentary and departmental levels.Naturally, a major part of my work has been media and issues management, frequently referenced in news media such as the AFR and The Australian. In November 2018 I accepted the appointment of Chief Executive Officer at theI Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA), the peak body representing the independent tertiary education sector in Australia. ITECA is a strong advocate to ensure that government fosters an environment where the independent tertiary education sector can innovate, grow and meet the expectations of students and business. This is achieved through the delivery of certification programs plus building collaborative relationships with stakeholders in the education sector, business community and government.Beyond my role with ITECA, I contribute to efforts to secure pro-business reforms to the technical, regulatory and commercial environment via appointments to a number of forums and government committees. These include the General Council of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
Listed skills include Strategy, Management, Training, Negotiation, and 13 others.

Founded in 1925, the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) is the peak industry body representing the interests of manufacturers, importers and suppliers of medical devices to dentists and allied oral healthcare professionals.ADIA serves to strengthen the dental industry's link with parliament, departments and statutory agencies. Key stakeholders include the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), the Department of Health (DoH) in addition to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The policy outcomes that ADIA seeks are designed to support the growth and profitability of member businesses through regulatory framework for medical devices that is based on a risk management approach designed to ensure public health and safety, while at the same time freeing industry from any unnecessary regulatory burden. At a broader level, we are a strong advocate for the reforms that allow business to create more jobs, operate profitability and develop new products for the local and export markets.A major accomplishment has been reform of ADIA’s governance arrangements which included transferring the legal structure from an incorporated association under Victorian state legislation to a company limited by guarantee under the Corporations Act (Cth) 2001. This added the duties of Company Secretary to my remit.During my term, membership grew by 40%, membership income by 290% and net assets increased by 60%. In FY2011/12 a record surplus of $841,000 was delivered and strong surpluses sustained over the budget cycle. In 2017 ADIA was named 'Association of the Year' by Associations Forum, a body committed to assisting associations and charities in governance, operations, membership and finances.
