The Independent Tertiary Education Council Australia (ITECA)* is the the peak body representing the independent tertiary education sector in Australia. The independent tertiary education sector supports around 80% of the 4.1 million students in vocational education and training plus some 10% of the 1.5 million students in higher education.ITECA is a strong advocate to ensure that government fosters an environment where the independent tertiary education sector can innovate, grow and meet the expectations of students and business. This is achieved through the delivery of certification programs plus building collaborative relationships with stakeholders in the education sector, business community and government.* Known as the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET) prior to May 2019.

Founded in 1925, the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA) is the peak industry body representing the interests of manufacturers, importers and suppliers of medical devices to dentists and allied oral healthcare professionals.ADIA serves to strengthen the dental industry's link with parliament, departments and statutory agencies. Key stakeholders include the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), the Department of Health (DoH) in addition to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The policy outcomes that ADIA seeks are designed to support the growth and profitability of member businesses through regulatory framework for medical devices that is based on a risk management approach designed to ensure public health and safety, while at the same time freeing industry from any unnecessary regulatory burden. At a broader level, we are a strong advocate for the reforms that allow business to create more jobs, operate profitability and develop new products for the local and export markets.A major accomplishment has been reform of ADIA’s governance arrangements which included transferring the legal structure from an incorporated association under Victorian state legislation to a company limited by guarantee under the Corporations Act (Cth) 2001. This added the duties of Company Secretary to my remit.During my term, membership grew by 40%, membership income by 290% and net assets increased by 60%. In FY2011/12 a record surplus of $841,000 was delivered and strong surpluses sustained over the budget cycle. In 2017 ADIA was named 'Association of the Year' by Associations Forum, a body committed to assisting associations and charities in governance, operations, membership and finances.

Incorporated by Royal Charter, AIB is a professional membership organisation representing the interests of professionally qualified and skilled individuals working in the building and construction industry.My tenure saw a turnaround from a deficit of $307,000 in FY2004/05 to a surplus of $165,000 in FY2005/06, sustained thereafter during my tenure. A key role was to project managed the introduction of a new membership database which was necessary to support annualised membership growth of 7% in each year that I was with AIB.

Initially employed as a Policy Officer, after a series of merit-based promotions I was Assistant Executive Director at the Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA Australia). This is the national peak body for fire safety that provides information, services and education to the fire protection industry and the community. FPA Australia is represented across Australia by active members and is supported by the broader industry and related stakeholders in the built environment, bushfire and other specialist sectors. The Association is a not-for-profit organisation with its national head office based in Melbourne.Major accomplishments included the Established the RTO to deliver nationally fire equipment service training and obtaining Australian Government approval to become a cabling registrar. Another major success was drafting the Code of Practice (2000 version) for the fire protection industry after collaboration with industry and government and also negotiating a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Standards Australia that strengthened representation on Standards committees.
