Senior Director for Defense Policy and Strategy and member of the Senior Executive Service (SES) with responsibility for policy development and implementation related to the defense budget and capabilities, national security space, nuclear forces and modernization, missile defense, maritime security, cybersecurity, security sector assistance, foreign military sales and the full range of military operations. Served as senior defense advisor to the President of the United States on the NSC, supported Cabinet-level NSC meetings, and helped manage civil-military relations with the Department of Defense.

Director for Strategic Planning with responsibility for supporting the National Security Advisor and President of the United States with national security decision making and strategy development. Led development of the 2015 National Security Strategy as well as government-wide processes and strategies for space security, counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and regional security challenges in the Middle East, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific. Led process for developing and managing performance of the President's foreign policy priorities to include risk management and strategic foresight.

Senior advisor two Chairmen of Joint Chiefs of Staff and Director of the Chairman’s Action Group for General Martin Dempsey. Led a team of multi-service officers and defense civilians to inform and advance the strategic vision of the nation's senior military officer. Managed the Chairman's global relationships and strategic communications, involving all Congressional hearings and engagements with over 50 foreign leaders in more than 30 countries. Developed the Chairman's Strategic Direction to the Joint Force as well as other strategies and plans for the health, readiness, and capabilities of the Joint Force. Supported the Chairman in providing military advice to the President and Congress.

Designed, built and commanded a 400-person Air Force squadron with responsibility for supporting global cyber and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. Managed development and fielding of new capabilities to support intelligence operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Trained Air Force personnel on signals intelligence (SIGINT) capabilities and functions. Designed, built and operated an innovative language training facility for strategic languages.
